Administrative Law
Morris, Laing has a long and respected history of representing clients in administrative proceedings before government at all levels. Firm attorneys also assist in preparing applications and other regulatory filings for ongoing business activities, and advise clients on regulatory compliance requirements affecting business operations.
From its inception, the firm has represented oil and gas companies in matters before the Kansas Corporation Commission and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (and its predecessor). We have represented electric and natural gas public utilities and telecommunications providers in state regulatory proceedings. We routinely represent clients in formal and informal proceedings and appeals before such agencies as the Board of Tax Appeals, the Kansas Corporation Commission, the Office of the Securities Commissioner; and the National Labor Relations Board.
Our state and federal tax practice encompasses income, property, sales and severance tax areas. In recent years, we have greatly expanded our capabilities in labor and employment law, making this one of our most important areas of practice. We also maintain an active state securities practice.
